Title: skin modifications without owner consent

fatal error - January 13, 2008 10:14 PM (GMT)
its an isolated incident where on zetaboards, ive seen (some) admins actually manipulating original skins..or "themes" as we call it on zeta....of course i only glanced at these boards and didnt bother to save the url's..but this thought has come to mind again and again..
so what do you think? is that abuse? should the board itself get shutdown? or ban the board from using anymore themes?

some skinners give you permission to change the skin.

The one who created the skin on my site did.

The board could possibly get shut down IF the skin creator complains to IF about it. Generally, if there is an issue, the creator will contact the board owner first and try to work it out.

When skins are posted up for use, there is usually a copyright statement that outlines whether you can change the skin or not. If the copyright strictly states that the skin may not be changed, then it would be wrong to edit the skin without permission.

If it is not clearly stated, the best thing to do is contact the creator and ask for permission to edit.

From what I've seen, most people that post skins for others to use aren't as disturbed about editing as they are when people take credit for their work.
