Title: New Tool - Auto Script Hosting

Mwr247 - January 15, 2008 04:25 AM (GMT)
I was recently challenged by Cory to create a new tool for the Big Boards arsenal. After about a week of work I've finally completed the task. I now present to you, the Auto Script Hosting Tool!

What is it you might ask? Well, when trying to come up with an idea of what to make, I looked at the Code & Skin Hosting forum, and decided to make a tool that allows you to do essentially the same thing, except automatically and instantly. Basically, if you want to host a script or skin but don't have anywhere to do it, simply put in a name, the type of file, and then the contents of the file and hit submit. The next page will give you a link to the file, show you the contents, and automatically creates a ready-to-embed code that you just copy and put on your board!

Another nice feature this tool offers is the ability to compile multiple scripts together into one file. This is extremely useful for people who have so many codes on their forum they've run out of wrapper space. Just put in all your codes, upload it, and viola! It even filters out script tags if you forgot to remove them to ensure your code works properly.

On top of saving space, remotely hosting files will also cause them to load quicker on your board when users view it again, because the file is cached by their computer.

So without further ado, here is the link to this wonderful tool: http://mwr247.atwebpages.com/. If you have any problems, just submit them to the Bug Reports forum here on BB and I'll help you out the best I can. Any suggestions/comments you might have can be posted here.

Hope you all enjoy :)

Wow.....that is indeed awesome Mwr. :) I just put up my activity mod with the script tags, the code did remove the first and last script tags and uploaded it very quickly, very nicely done. :)

Oh and just for a laugh I put in my source code for my RPG(v2 of it) in there, and it said this when I put the code into the box:

Characters Left: -232679

hahahaha ^_^

Just a question, will this work with mods that involve PHP coding?

Natyrox:
Thanks :) As for your other question, it should work.

Wow... That's one big code lol... But ya, I'm mostly happy with how the script tag remover came out. I had to follow a different method to remove tags with variable attributes like name and id, and it will cause problems if the tag is on the same line as the first piece of code, but otherwise it will load ok.

Wow! Nice job Mike, this is a great tool and it will help out many coders in many ways. Keep up the fantastic work man!
