Link Nice forum but I think you started out with to many forums... I would try to get rid of some of those and replcae them with sub forums... that way it's easier for a start. A custom skin in always nice, your banner looks to be streching the forum... that's always been kind'a annoing to me :ermm:

Just a couple comments.
Your site seems to be about many things, but no particular theme. Or if there is one, it's not readily discernable.
It would be good to come up with one phrase that would describe your board (your purpose) and feature it somewhere prominent, like under the banner, for instance. Or perhaps following your Welcome header and above the rules.
You also have quite a few forums with no posts at all. It would be good to start some interesting topics in those forums, at least 2 or 3, so members have something to comment on and some discussions can get going. Start a couple of polls about favorite songs or new movies. A poll is an easy and often fun way to get some comments going. About the only topic you have missed is a food forum, and hey --people love to talk about their favorite foods.
I agree with the previous comments... you should definitely consider the use of subforums and as far as the categories go... I only see one category... this is most obvious with the bottom two categories... but they could all fit in the top category. I've seen a number of general chit-chat forums, and many very successful, too... check out big-boards.com for inspiration... and google it too, certainly... see what the more successful forums have done.
I do believe you need to stand out from all that though, as well... take Helena's advice and come up with a theme... then go from there with the design... it should reflect your theme. Consider what inspired you, in the first place... and certainly consider what you want to do with the forum, it's purpose...
