Title: IF/ZB hacked

i heard the buzz going around that hackers hacked boards with custom domains..some were vitimized while others escaped hackers clutches.. some forums i know of were hacked to death..all mine are safe thank god..glad BB doesnt have custum doamin set up... should there be a weekly security sweep of both ntework's servers so it doesnt happen again? -i saw someone mention a security sweep on IF community board

Big boards was down too. One of my sites with a domain was hacked, the one that didn't have one was o.k.

If I understand what happened right, the hackers didn't get into the servers, they basically hacked the main IF domain. That is why they were able to display their message across so many boards, and why the custom domain boards were affected. Somebody can correct me if I'm wrong about that.

According to Brandon, it was simply the act of server defacement (referred to as
website defacement on a per site basis).

i used a spam bot to spam under their entire forum! :P

What they did was called DNS poisoning, which basically messed with the /index.php of the url. That's what I've gathered lol
But it's sad to see IF/Zb attacked like that, hopefully Brandon can do something about better security.

They got into the InvisionFree/Zetaboard nameservers and redirected it to their own page.

When you say a custom domain ... is that setup in your control panel ?
I got my domain name from a domain supplier and then redirected to my board is this the safer way ?
