Title: Zantherus [SE]

Ziveeman - March 27, 2008 05:39 PM (GMT)
Board Name:Zantherus
Board URL: http://www.zantherus.com/community
Board Description:

You're probably going to feel a little intimidated when you see Zantherus. That's okay. Most people do. Why? It's because we're so different. Our goal for you guys is to provide a place where you can relax or think. We discuss many different things seriously or many different things...not seriously.

But you have to understand that we want to have fun too. That's why you'll see a lot of randomness and stupidity. But don't judge us from that. We're actually all intellectually-minded people with a goal in life. Keep in mind I'm writing this with absolutely no goal in mind. Note the irony.

So don't x us out just because there's something stupid. Believe it or not, there's actually something beautiful in every post made on Zantherus...sometimes it just involves deleting that post in order to find it. Throw everything you know of forums out the window because we're not that.

So welcome to Zantherus. Watch your step...somebody probably took a #### there.

  • The forum has a great skin, and all the images are intact and none are still default.
  • Most of your members seem to be really active and post a lot.
  • Your guidelines are easy to follow, so that may reduce the spam rate and keep everything well organized.

user posted image Weaknesses
  • You have seemed to have tried to do something different guest wise, but unfortunately members still have to view it.

user posted image Recommendations
  • Use your current announcements box for member announcements, and use a forum to attract guests, with a register link and a quick log in.
  • Update the favicon, the blank circle doesn't really mean anything towards your board. I recommend putting a 'Z' inside it.

You have a fantastic board going so far, I struggled to find a weakness, and also a few recommendations. Keep up the good work with your board!

Thanks for the feedback. I would just like to note that the guest message changes to an announcement box when a member logs in.

However, I will definitely look into updating the favicon, I agree that it does look kinda plain.

No problems, if you are wanting another board evaluation, please be aware you have to wait another month before another one! Hopefully by then your board will be almost perfect!

  • The forum names seem pretty unique and understandable at the same time, which is good.
  • The welcome description seems to convey a friendly, openness mood, which suits your type of community well, I think.
  • The forum seems pretty active for the amount of members you have.
user posted image Weaknesses
  • Personally, I think the skin is suitable for the needs of a community forum, however, it's just really basic. The overall color scheme, images and logo are all pretty basic, in fact. The skin isn't something that necessarily needs to be glamorous for the type of forum you run, though, it would make the overall forum more unique and good looking.
  • The Tutorials forum seems very inactive in terms of tutorials. I suggest somehow finding a way to encourage members to post tutorials, so that forum won't be useless.
user posted image Recommendations
  • I agree with Justin, the favicon looks somewhat bland being a blank circle. I suggest updating it. The "Z" would be a nice touch.
  • Keep advertising and bringing in new content to develop an ever greater community.
  • A new logo that is better quality and stretches across the logo strip would be nice, I think.

Thanks for the feedback :) The tutorials forum was just added so it'll take awhile (since tutorials take awhile to make) but our members are talented so I'm sure it'll fill up.
