I realize that this is a brand new board, but some of the observations and questions I'm asking are meant to help you define your purpose, and then implement a focused plan for your board.

user posted image Strengths
  • Clean, pleasant graphics and skin and well organized forums. You seem to have a good assortment of ways to advertise on your forum site.
  • Excellent submenu, especially nice to see a section with handy usercontrol links.
  • Offering a place for boards to advertise their events is a good idea for your format.
user posted image Weaknesses
  • Nothing immediately intriguing to visitors or giving them a compelling reason to join.
  • Submenu links to your services are dead ends to guests. How can they decide if they like what they see, if they can't see any of them?
  • You have no obvious traffic. Why would anyone want to advertise on your board? You must think of a way to give people a reason to join.
  • There is nothing particularly new or innovative in the formatting of your board. You need a "hook" ---something that is your thing, that makes you different from other advertising boards. If you don't find it, there isn't much hope that your board will ever grow to any significant size.
user posted image Recommendations
  • If you are not going to reveal your member forums, at least have a list of them somewhere that guests can see.
  • FInd a way to make visitors feel welcome, and that you are excited that they clicked into your site.
  • I would recommend opening some of your forums to guest reading. Select ones you think would be interesting enough that people might read them and find out enough about you that they would want to join.
  • Get some good content on your board, don't wait for members to pour in to write it for you. You have a couple of resource forums set up, but there is little in them, and they are really unrelated to your purpose. At the very least, have some topics with resource links in them for board promotion, SEO tips, ideas for getting members, etc.--all the things people want to accomplish by using your site.
  • Your biggest issue is how to increase traffic. You will need to give something away to get traffic. It could be product or services, information, or just an enticing look at something fun to do. Until you have some traffic numbers, the prospect of advertising via your board service is not going to be appealing to other board owners. You do have some free advertising packages, but no one would know that unless they registered first.
  • Try to develop some farther reaching ad packages that will get users ads exposed on more forums than just your own. You could possibly start out by offering a signature advertising package where you and your staff would advertise for member boards in your signatures at other big traffic boards. (And be sure you actually go and post regularly on those boards.) It might be one way to make your exposure offerings more attractive. Interestingly, this code for cross forum advertising (it looks to be somewhat similar to the Molero system idea) was just posted today.
