Title: Zzzzzzzzzzzz
madgal - May 20, 2008 03:05 PM (GMT)
Whats happened this forum? Don't tell me that activity has dropped because of exams coz thats totally rubbish. I have exams coming up, and can still maintain a reasonable level of activity.
I posted earlier on, came back a fews hour later and no-one had posted since.
I blame this on your staff. I had a quick check.
3/5 of your Invisionfree Staff are on zero posts ??? The other 2 have post counts under 15. One hasn't been on since last September.
The only other staff are Cory and Helena. They're dead on - but clearly need another few staff members on here to be motivated, and start the post trend going again.
I want to get to club 150 - but I don't want to be answering my own topics.

I realize that our IF staff member group can be confusing if you don't know the background or haven't read the Groups & Ranks page in the "About Us" list.
But that member group is an honorary one that recognizes members who are or who have been staff on the official IF support forums. They have no BB staff duties.
There are four of us on the BB staff: Cory, myself, Clay and Mike.
The forum does seem to go through ebbs and flows of activity. We will be sending out a board email soon, which usually stirs up some activity.

ahhh rite thats ok. Sorry!!
So really theres only 2 staff members on here? Yourself and Cory?
Cory - May 20, 2008 03:59 PM (GMT)
Me, Helena, Mwr247 (Mike) and Clay.
You're not the only one who finds BB somewhat inactive at times; it's only our biggest complaint. We're definitely aware that BB needs improvements in this area and we're looking into ways to improve our member activity. A few competitions may be held soon, and I'll try to buckle down and advertise more this summer. So hopefully things will be speeding up this summer. :)

I have never found that accusing people of not posting enough is a really effective way of motivating them to post.

True this board a lot of activity, but th eones tht are actie are very dediated and when it comes down to it dedicated members are the best on a forum.
I fnd BB to be one of the best boards on IF in my opinion and it is def. the most resourceful out of any board I've joined or seen.
Having lots more acivity would be great though and would def. push BB off the roof.=P

Something simple like a posting contest, might kick-start you's off. Even if only a few people enter - the increased topics/posts might draw others to post.
And yes advertising would be a major plus.

You should know that in an advertising forum, you really need to act straight away. Otherwise your forum flops.
I'd also like to point out, thats its amusing to spot an admin view each post you make - yet fail to post in any of them.
Great encouragement.

Just noticed your edit now, madgal.
We've had two posting contests and one referral contest in the past, and they were somewhat useful. We're still looking into a few competition ideas for the upcoming weeks. I mine as well start some type of competition soon, for the sake of our users interest.
I still advertise on a daily basis (signature advertising especially), however, when this last week of school ends and I have more free time this summer, I plan to advertise more.
I guess you can say I'm too much of a lurker at times, but for the most part, I do respond to users topics from time-to-time; when I find the discussion interesting that is. The topics I find interesting I might not reply to at that exact moment, but when I hear more opinions, I just may. A little secret of mine: support topics are what really interest me. :nerd:

I hope my absence hasn't been effecting this problem, because i actually have been busy.

You know, I may be stating the obvious here, but this is an admin board. I am here to get ideas for my board and if something strikes my fancy I will post but I'm not exaclty putting a whole lot of effort into post count here. And that is as it should be. All of us should be putting our maind posting energy into our own boards.
and when did this become an advertising forum? Advertising is available on the board but hardly it's main function.

I was actually going to comment on the well put togetherness (is that a word) of this forum. I think that the forum offers a lot of resources and is nicely laid out. I am in love with the skin and graphics.
