so I'm actually using zeta for the first time and am noticing some things

How about logging in and discovering that Zeta HIJACKED YOUR WHOLE FLIPPIN' FORUM?!

I admin a forum on Server 10, and it's normal. But the forum I admin on Server 13 got switched to Zeta, and NOBODY on the admin team authorized it!

I sent in a support ticket, and now I'm going to find somebody else to yell at, because this is so beyond acceptable, that I'm basically having a fit of apoplexy.

Our custom skins have vanished. Our custom icons have vanished. Some links have been turned to html mush. And now I can't get into at least half the ACP because Zeta is incompatible with my computer's browser!

I am so upset right now, it's nowhere approaching any possible way to express it adequately...

Anybody else's forum get hijacked? Any Server 13 wackiness?

mhm mhm mhm zeta sucks i was on if for a while and liked it and changed to zeta. everything went down hill. pissed me off so badly i payed 150$ for vbulletin.

im dont with the damn free hosted forums. pisses me off too much. and i get pissed off for the simple things. like people saying the word "bro"

I am so sorry about the problems. I hope Zeta founder(s) are gonna solve your problems asap. :(

I'm hearing lots of reports of people losing all of their uploaded files during the conversion. That is pretty scary.

There is actually a little "Track Topic" link at the bottom of each topic page. Granted, it is hard to find, and it doesn't e-mail you with new post notifications (it just displays the topic in your Preferences area), but it is there. Because of the amount of people complaining about the e-mail notifications, I'm guessing it'll be added back eventually.

The entire IF >Zetaboard conversion process has been, IMO, a complete disaster. The Zetaboards support site is choked with complaints. Granted some of these complaints are caused, unintentionally, by those posting the complaint. Many are legitimate beefs. I was under the impression there would be "bugs" during the conversion. Not being able to install a custom theme(skin) and install some custom emotes, as I currently cannot do because of another "glitch", are both fairly basic message board functions, but problems with these basic functions are rampant among the recently converted board admins who have been posting their problems.

Vague replies, devoid of any specific information, and slow(or no) replies to some of my support tickets, have left me with a permanently bad impression from the whole affair.

I believe the ZB problems will be fixed, in time. The problem is that for many small(er) or medium sized boards, including my own, the "damage" from this glitch-filled format changeover, which is currently manifesting at my own site by way of little or no posting activity(since the change), will be permanent. I have worked very hard over the course of the last two years and four months, starting with nothing and nobody, to establish my site so the prospect of losing some of that is appalling to me and, honestly, makes me very angry.

In retrospect I should have never made the change.

IMO, the fact that converted boards have no search function at present is plenty of reason not to convert yet.

How disappointing! All that waiting for a functional search and converted boards don't even have the pathetic IF search available anymore, let alone the new improved one. (Which, from the times I have tried to use it is not all that great.)

Its like any new product that comes out. It has errors that need to be straightened before its any way decent.
Clearly some errors need straightened out so thats why I might hold back.

I have a forum or two I tech admin on that got switched to Zeta and not notified before the conversion. Since then I have learned that a Conversion Option was added to most all IF ACP's. I passed the word to all IF admin/owners asap. Only the root admin can make the choices in the ACP.

I do not like Zeta. It's been a nightmare trying to restore mods and such to those forum that got switched.

While some say Zeta is user friendly I do not find it to be.

My forum's activity has slowed to pretty much not much at all. I have decided to move to IPBFree, and will keep the current forum as an archive in case we need it/in case ZetaBoards actually gets fixed to the point of being usable.

Sorry to any Zeta fans who might be offended by this opinion -- but I was a beta tester, my board got converted without my permission, it's not compatible with my browser, and I find this whole situation unacceptable. Even with free hosting, "voting with your feet/wallet" (due to the Google ads) is still a valid choice if you don't like the service.

I think Zeta should have done more testing before doing the conversions. There are a number of Zeta boards I can't get on because it freezes up my computer each tiime I go to them. This happen on whatever browser I use so it's not just an IE issue.

I honestly don't like Zeta from an admins viewpoint. From a member I like it, just I can't stand being admin on it, especially when getting used to all of the Invision Free stuff. And waiting for everything to be either converted or made for Zeta could take forever.

All I know is that if my forum gets converted, I'm raising hell. The root admin hasn't logged in since December 30, 2007. So I know if it gets changed they ####ed up, or the root came on and just requested it out of nowhere. I think it'd be the ladder.

The only thing I really like about zetaboards is the fact that you're able to change all the images for each skin. Otherwise I much prefer IF.

that is a big draw for me too. Or just a skin changer. I havn't had much luck with one.
