This may not be the right spot for this, if not, I apologize, but I'm debating converting to ZB. Can you guys give me some pros and cons as to why or why NOT to convert to ZB???

This list would probably be different if the question was "do I start a new board in IF or ZB? But these are my thoughts about converting an existing IF board. My overall though on this is that it will be a good decision for some boards, and not for others. You have to look at your particular situation and see what is best for your board and your community.

Pro's

• Increased security. Almost no spambot problems on ZB
• Working search (well, not at the moment, but should be back soon)
• Ability to search all member posts
• Ability to offer members a selection of skins to choose from
• More file storage space
• Moderator tools are better and more reliable
• new features like joinable groups, custom profile fields, default member legend, enhanced
  New board system with the potential for many more features than IF

Cons

• There have been serious conversion bugs-- loss of upload files, members can't retrieve passwords, HTML not converting properly, topic links you have posted on your board will not transfer, issues with smilies and icons, and I"m sure there are others.
• There is no skin converter, so you will have to do that manually or change your skin to one of the ones that have been created so far.
• Loss of certain features: no pre-register function, can't delete PMs, no forum jump menu, no doHTML tags in posts and sigs, can't log in on more than one account at a time, no IP search, can't subscribe to topics or PMs, no board email function..

Awesome information. I wasn't aware of alot of that information, and it's just what I was looking for.

Is BB pending conversion??

Not at the present. With the topic URLs not lining up with the converted ones, our indexes would be useless until they could be updated one link at a time. That is one huge deterrent from conversion for BB. We're not ruling it out, but the new system and the conversion process will have to be much more stable and complete before we convert.

I'm just sticking with IF. Im more comfortable, and I think changing might damage what you already have. Unless all your members are in favour of changing, then I wouldn't.

Not sure if it's just me, but the ACP was pretty confusing. Way more complexed than IF's.

Well, since we've only been open a little more than a month, I think this would the BEST time to convert.

As far as the bulk email, from what I saw, there was an option to do so.

Also, the Admin CP was pretty simple from what I saw.

Forgive me please...yes, there IS bulk email function on ZB. Sorry for that mistake.

I'm waiting for the dummies guide to ZB coming out!! Then I might convert.

the lost password recovery does work but the e-mail you need to get takes a few days to get to you but it does work as one member did lose their pass and we were able to fix it via password recovery but no admin can edit a password via the acp anymore.
