user posted image Strengths
  • The banner compliments the boards theme.
  • Height-wise, the announcements box is just right. The expand/collapse feature makes it even more subtle, which is good.
  • The member-only features are pleasant and should help lure those members in.
user posted image Weaknesses
  • Little activity as of now.
  • The lack of emphasis on the boards name; Penny Arcade.
user posted image Recommendations
  • If possible, give the Pacman category icon a transparent effect by setting that part of the maintitle as the icons background.
  • Advertise, and post new topics around the board.
  • A game-like favicon would be nice.
  • Considering the media that may be posted on your board, I would add some brief guidelines for the overall board.
  • Consider a slogan (Penny-a-Play, for example) to emphasize the true meaning behind Penny Arcade.

I advertise in my sig where ever allowed and I submitted to search engines. Neither seems to be working lol.

For some reason I have no luck doing favicons.

I don't really know how you mean about doing that.???

Those are some nice forms of advertising, but if you'd really like your board to get going, you're going to have to use other forms of advertising as well. Submitting to search engines is a good idea, but it may take awhile before your board can be easily accessed.

You can request a favicon in our community exchange forum if you'd like.

By slogan, I'm referring more to a tagline, which will help emphasize the idea behind "Penny Arcade". BB's tagline is "Helping you build your board". The tagline can be introduced in your banner or anywhere else throughout your board.

Ok, did that with marquee text. What do you suggest as other advertising methods?

Signature and search engine advertising is a good start. I would also consider advertisement services that boards offer; such as BB's "advertising solutions". Directories are good for advertising too, and can help build up your search engine rank. Don't forget about word of mouth; an effective verbal promotion technique.
