Title: One-word posts

How do you combat the one-word-posts on your forum?

I've seen some people add a skin, that recommends a 'decent' number of posts. But surely, if the standard has been set, and your actually passionate about forums, you would post something half decent?

Are you asking about an appropriate minimum number of words per post, or the number of posts overall?

Personally, I have no problem with one-word posts if they make sense in the context of the thread.

Well I recently added the "Hows my post?" code to the board so people feel compelled to write more now lol. But I really don't mind one-word posts. *shrugs*

I find one-worded posts annoying. Especially in debates. I mean, who would put "Lol" as an answer to the threat of the H5N1 bird flu?

That's just spam. Heck, I knew an ADMIN who would do crap like that, except he would sometimes add a little more: "LOL, Internets."

None of his colleagues ever called him on that. I finally did (wasn't on staff at the time), and got punished for it. That was (and still is) a forum where the staff feel free to ignore the same rules they crack down on others for violating.

I think there should be a minimum post limit of 50 words in a debate. That way, you'd automatically limit the small posters, and let the real debaters crack on.
