Title: what do you expect on a resource board?

HelenaZF - July 19, 2008 05:27 PM (GMT)
Some questions for discussion:

What do you expect from staff on a resource board?

Should staff provide all the content and support, or do you expect members to contribute to those?

If you post a support topic and a staff member does not answer, but another member does, do you feel neglected or cheated?

Do you consider BB a resource board, or something else?

Do you feel welcome to add your comments and information to support topics?

I don't expect a staff member to be able to answer everyones questions,Nobody knows everything.I don't think there's any harm at all if a member is able to answer another members question that a staff member was unable to answer or couldn't answer in time.

I do however think that if you run a resource forum you should make sure your staff as somewhat a little knowledge of things so they don't look completly dumb and are unable to help out and give members support on anything.

It's always nice to have staff on a resource forum that can actually help and I'll admit, when I come to a resource forum I expect the staff to be able to answer some of my questions and give support, but as I said, nobody knows everything. ;) :)

For the record...I count BB as A Resource/Services board (Hope that makes sense) and its the best I know of for services so keep up the fantastic work. ^_^

I think BB is a Resource board. I think members and staff should contribute to the forum. As a staff member you should do your bit and do most things.

While I think staff should be the leaders as far as content and support, I think the members should contribute also.

Nope. Sometimes a member might be very experienced in whatever that field of support is, or has had and fixed a similar support problem recently. This would mean they'd be the best person to give support on that issue. Again, while the staff should be the main ones to provide support, it's perfectly okay if the members do too.

I think that's the most accurate description.

I think it is fify/ fifty.

I started out here just looking for support but am finding I use the resources more and more. But other people looking for support is a great resource. I can't tell you how many times someone has asked how to do something and I've thought "what a great idea" and added it to my own site.

What do you expect from staff on a resource board? a kind and respectful attitude. Also they shud not just keep rare codes but to share it to the community.

Should staff provide all the content and support, or do you expect members to contribute to those? Nope they can just help with moderating

If you post a support topic and a staff member does not answer, but another member does, do you feel neglected or cheated? yes XD

Do you consider BB a resource board, or something else? yep

Do you feel welcome to add your comments and information to support topics? kinda =)

Staff are held to a higher standard of operation when it comes to things like this.

I do expect members to help, but staff should be the majority helpers. If a member replies first, and the support works, its cool. Its the same direction I was going so it shouldn't matter whether it's staff or member.

For me, it's both resources and community.

For them to know what they are talking about, and also be friendly.

I reckon it should be primarily staff, but members more than welcome to contribute too.

Nope not at all. As long as they help and know what they are talking about, it's fine.

Yep, definately.
