Interested in trying ad removal and adding own ads

It costs 18 cents per thousand views to remove ads from a ZB forum. Do you think this is worth it if I put up my own ads? I'd obviously need it to be over 18 cents eCPM.

The goal is to make some money... but I could lose money if it brings in less than I need to pay ZB. There is a free trial with ZB, but it won't last long enough on my forum to properly test It. So I thought I would come here and see what you guys think.

I personally feel ad removal is a losing battle that in the end will cost you way more than you could ever want to pay.

If your site was to "take off" and/or suddenly got a lot of traffic, you could be paying a lot of money.

Also, if you are looking for your own AdSense campaign to offset the fee's being charged by Zathyus, then you can forget that idea. They are charging you a fixed rate but AdSense does not pay in a fixed rate. I have seen days where a site has hundreds of page impressions, and AdSense paid absolutely nothing, yet another site makes change in the double digits.

AdSense is like gambling. You have no real control of your return, it's all in the "house's" (Googles) hands.

Finally, before I would pay for ad removal, I would look at getting my own hosting/server space and branching out on my own. If I'm paying then I might as well have complete control of the backend.

That's my opinion, hope it helped.

The forum get's about 30 thousand pageviews a day, so it would be a very risky thing to do. But CPM can get as high as $10 for some people... certainly not with a forum, but do you really think forum ads will be unable to keep the income above an average of 18 cents per thousand impressions? I have no clue.

And it's hard to consider moving to paid software on my own server because the forum has 1 million posts. That's a lot of posts to lose (5 years worth).

Well, Jeremy, like I said the issue is that you will be charged a flat rate from Zathyus Network, but Google will pay a varied return.

My AdSense for Content campaign returns an average of $0.26 Page eCPM. The highest return channel generates an average $0.61 eCPM while the lowest generates $0.00. Sure, you can make money from AdSense but know that they will not pay off until you get above $100. Trust me, it will take you forever to reach $100.

In the end, it's your call. As I stated, I personally would not attempt to offset the fixed rate charged by Zathyus with a gamble return from Google. It just doesn't make good fiscal sense. Unless you are ready to accept that for every $1 Zathyus charges, your Google ads only return a dime, I wouldn't do it.

Final note, in looking at my Awstats for one of my busiest sites, in September it averaged 40412 page views per day. My AdSense for that site (channel) returned an average of $0.10 eCPM.

Reid
cool ZN coder

I would recommend against purchasing ad removal if you have modifications (codes) on your board. To do a quick check, go through your codes and try to find the following line:
Code:

$.get
or
Code:

$.post
If either of those two lines (beginnings of lines, anyways) are in a code, then that code will use extra ad credits for no real return.

That's just something to consider, though.
