It was originally posted on Dec. 25, 2009] If you have investigated the countdown signature some of us have been displaying, you know that we have been planning to unveil something big. In 7 days, Planet Nexus will be revealed. Planet Nexus is a new board, complete with a website to power the features we have planned. So what will Planet Nexus be about? Planet Nexus will be the hub of social networking for forums through its mega-feature, the NexusTree. NexusTree pages will promote your forum, but not hide it out of site in some directory. Users can interact with your page, leave comments and ratings and sign up to be your fans. You will be able to update your page as you like with news and events and display your other social networking connections there. Your NexusTree page will be personalized with your own banner and board theme colors, so visitors will get a taste of your board right on your page. We have taken the concept of the Network Bar and expanded it to become the power base to automate dynamic exports of your comments, stats and site updates. These will be displayed in a collective feed on a community Wall. Your sign up on the NexusBar will also allow you to toggle some very spiffy options for your board including an IRC style integrated network chat and your own members online today code...all powered from the NexusBar. And we have much more in store for you. Mike is masterminding the coding complexities of our nexworking features, and we think you will be blown away by what he has come up with. It's Christmas, so tomorrow, we will install a preview of the NexusBar here on as our Christmas gift to you. You will have a week to check it out before Planet Nexus is opened. We hope you are as intrigued and excited about the possibilities of this new way of networking as we are. And we hope that you have enjoyed your time at enough to join up with us on Planet Nexus. And btw, at Planet Nexus...all this will be called nexworking. When the image in our signatures change at midnight, you will be linked to our new homepage where the official countdown clock is ticking away the minutes until zero hour. This code lets you see not only who has been online in the last 24 hours, but by hovering over their name, you can view their last activity. Clinking the username takes you to the profile. Does it use IRC or something? :s It all sounds pretty intresting, any development screenshots :p Well I tried to get an early look, lol. Glad it isn't IRC, I'm not keen on IRC, nickservs, chanservs and all that, too much hassle. HelenaZF The chat is IRC style, however it is completely original coding. So no, it does not use IRC channels. It is hosted and powered by our Planet Nexus webhost. No screenshots. All will be revealed when the countdown clock runs out. NexChat is fully integrated into the IF/ZB board systems. If you are logged on, you will automatically have access to NexChat with your board username. Mike essentially wrote my own "irc-style" type script. By this, I mean I took some concepts from irc such as chat commands and text icons before names to indicate rank, but I completely wrote the entire system from scratch. It's much simpler though, and more reliable because you can't steal peoples names and also don't have to log in Th�sia Sounds awesome. Can't wait. (Even though you guys tried to hog up the name by using both StarTrekNexus AND NexusTrek )
